As a child, I was always in my father`s workshop up to my knees in dust and shavings working on some project or other, everything from rustic shelves and paper knives to longbows and steam bent skateboard decks.
It was on a cycle trip around Vancouver Island (on my cobbled together mountain bike) that I saw my first cedarstrip canoe. That inspired my venture into building cedarstrip canoes, kayaks and other small craft.
My love of wood and nature have led me into woodcarving and wood sculpture. I carve mainly wildlife and take much inspiration from watching animals in the wild, often on remote canoe trips.
